When most parents think of Christian summer camp, they either picture a youth retreat with their child’s church group or a nearby day camp. Surprisingly, with an area so rich in Evangelical Christian ministries, there are very few Christian summer camps in Colorado. That’s why when I learned about the Student Life summer camps in Fort Lewis and Durango, I was eager to find out more.

Unlike other Christian summer camps in Colorado, or any other state for that matter, the Student Life Ministries camps are not a permanent fixture, nor do they own a piece of land in the state.  Rather, they are week-long camps for teens to learn and grow in an age-appropriate environment.  Ministry leaders and well-known worship leaders are a huge draw for teens from around the state of Colorado and beyond, which means that your teenager will get to meet a diverse group of like-minded teens.

Because these Christ-centered summer camps are often held at popular Christian and secular universities, teens will also get a preview of what college life will be like.  Student Life Ministries’ Christian summer camps in Colorado are designed to help your students look at their Christian life in a whole new way – as a journey instead of a destination.  By drawing closer to God at these summer camps, students learn to live a life without boundaries; one where they learn to be bold, not because they want to be noticed, but because they serve a bold and risen Savior.  Only when teens put their full faith in Jesus Christ can they begin to see their future through the eyes of a loving God.

The theme for the 2012 Student Life summer camps is “Audacious,” and is based on 1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."  Teens will enjoy amazing outdoor youth activities in various locations throughout the beautiful state of Colorado while learning to stand firm in their faith and “be audacious.”

According to recent reviews by teens who attended Student Life Camp at Fort Lewis College, it is a life-changing experience.  Set against the most beautiful backdrop imaginable, the college is known as Colorado’s “Campus in the Sky.”  Because of its lofty location in the beautiful San Juan Mountains, this location is one of the most impressive Christian summer camps in Colorado.
