If you read or listen to the news about the housing market, you may know that it’s still floundering in many areas of the nation.  People may still be worried about making a major investment in real estate, but in Colorado Springs, the benefits of buying a home far outweigh the risks.  In addition to the awe-inspiring mountain peaks and outdoor activities, stable family-oriented community and regular influx of military personnel, buying a house in the Colorado Springs area is a smart move.

Think about the facts before buying a house in Colorado Springs – prior to the housing crisis, real estate here was appreciating at the rate of five percent each year for several years.  Sure, things are not quite so rosy right now, but Colorado Springs is one of only a handful of areas where analysts expect to see growth next year.  In fact, many are predicting a full recovery by 2014.  These facts should impact any decision about buying a house in Colorado Springs.

As a real estate agent who has lived in the ‘Springs for more than three decades, I’ve seen the real estate market pull out of more than one slump.  It’s not hard to imagine that with the natural beauty of this area and five bustling military bases, the region would be fairly resilient, but it is the quality of life here that makes the biggest difference of all.

Colorado Springs has always been an amazing place to raise kids. Several faith-based organizations are headquartered here, and the community is anchored by family values.  This type of environment translates into responsible citizens, lower crime rates and better schools.  The population here is responsible, hard-working and family-oriented.  Citizens are concerned about their neighbors, their properties and their community as a whole, which gives this city the feeling of a small Southwestern town.

It may be difficult to calculate how much these intrinsic qualities affect home prices, but it was no surprise to see that Colorado Springs was voted as a “Best Recovery Bet” by CNNMoney.com earlier this year.  According to their published report, analysts anticipate the region will see higher home prices as soon as January 2012.  With lower interest rates and competitive summer pricing, there has never been a better time to be buying a house in Colorado Springs.  For more information about this topic, read the article, “The Benefits of Home Ownership – Buying a House in Colorado Springs”, posted on the Action Team Realty blog site.
